The police on Thursday summoned two men in a Gudu Upper Area
Court, FCT, for purportedly taking three dogs.
Suleiman Shehu, 28, and Bashir Abubakar, 20, both of Kabusa
town, Apo, are standing trial on a three-number of joint act, criminal trespass
and robbery.
The two respondents, nonetheless, denied the affirmation
that they stole three dogs yet conceded taking just a single and that dogs are not to be missed with.
Mr. Joshua Ayanna, the prosecutor, told the court that one Zacharia
Ibrahim, Solomon Olajide and Ibrahim Aminu reported the matter at Apo police
headquarters on November 26.
Ayanna said that the three men asserted that the two
respondents "on various events, criminally contrived together, trespassed
into their different houses and stole three dogs.
He said, "One of the dogs owned by one of the
complainants, one Mr Solomon, is esteemed at N20, 000, the rest owned by the
other two are estimated at N75,000 and N55,000.''
"The prosecutor said in the course of police
examination, the respondents admitted to have perpetrated the wrongdoing.
The Presiding Judge, Mr. Umar Kagarko granted bail to the
defendants in the sum of N50, 000 each with a dependable surety each.
Kagarko, who requested that the sureties must dwell inside
the ward of the court, suspended the case till Jan, 17, 2017 for hearing.
