The “One Million Boys” group terrorising some parts of the state
had been subdued says the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni.
Owoseni made the assertion when he addressed newsmen on the command’s activities in Ikeja.
He said different police teams, including the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, had been deployed to Morogbo area near Badagry.
He
said: “I use this medium to tell Lagosians, particularly Morogbo area
of Badagry, that the police have dealt with the one million boys.
“The
case was over exaggerated by some people. The one million boys are not
people we should worry about. There are no robbery incidents involving
them.
“The Area Commander, Divisional Police and Special
Anti-Robbery Squad are currently monitoring situation in the area. There
is peace there now.
Owoseni also unveiled the new outfit for SARS
operatives in Lagos, noting that it would check impersonation and
illegal operations.
Owoseni
said the outfit was first unveiled by the Inspector-general of Police,
Solomon Arase, who stressed that each state command had its identity
number and SARS boldly printed on the black T-shirt and black jacket.
Meanwhile,
the commissioner said the police killed alongside with his friend in
Agege area of the state during the yuletide was on a personal mission
when the incident happened.
Owoseni said he was not killed as SARS operative, rather by unknown gunmen while with his friend.
He, however, said the command was investigating the killings.
