London, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) United Kingdom will increase its
military assistance to Nigeria in order to help in the fight against the
terrorist group Boko Haram, according to an official statement
published today.
The UK Secretary of State for Defence , Michael Fallon, who paid a
visit to the African country, where he met with President Muhammadu
Buhari, announced that London will send experts in explosives,
intelligence, counter-insurgency, air combat and medical assistance,
among others.
About 150 British soldiers will join in the
upcoming months to the 130 sent in 2015, who this year trained more than
a thousand troops of the Nigerian armed forces, stated Fallon.
The number of deaths caused by boko Haram in six years is estimated at
about 20.000, mainly as a result of the conflict that affects the states
of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe in northeastern Nigeria, as well as in
border areas of Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
