Tom Cruise and Richard Gere Lead Celebs at Musical in New York

It must've been difficult for viewers to focus on the stage, with so many stars in the audience.

Tom Cruise, Richard Gere and other famous names decided that Wednesday evening would be the

perfect night to attend the hit Broadway play Hamilton.See more pictures.

The show, which premiered on September 6th at Richard Rodgers Theatre, offers a fresh look at the life of one of America's most beloved founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton.

For the event, the superstars kept things casual, with 53-year-old Tom opting for an all black ensemble, while Richard, 66, donned a pair of jeans, blue crew neck t-shirt, black zip up coat and a ball cap.

While they've obviously made their names in film and television, it was clear that the duo still have an appreciation for live theater.

Both made themselves available for numerous shots with members of the very talented cast, often offering up big smiles as well.

Hollywood legend Glen Close, 68, also made a cheery appearance.

Aside from the A-listers, the stunning Alejandra Silva also made a brief appearance, and participated in several photos with her beau Richard.

The actor and the blonde, who is 34 years younger than him, revealed their relationship in June, during the 61st Annual Taormina Film Festival in Italy.

Richard is currently in the midst of a divorce from actress Carey Lowell, although they originally separated in September 2013.

He has a 15-year-old son, Homer James Jigme Gere, with his ex.

The An Officer And A Gentleman star was married to supermodel Cindy Crawford for four years, before divorcing in 1995.

Alejandra has a son, Albert, from her previous marriage to Govind Friedland.
