The police detectives at the Delta State Police Command have
uncovered arms buildup in Warri North metropolis, including Egbema
Kingdom and warned perpetrators to steer off troubles, or be
prosecuted.
The
police public relations officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu who
confirmed the incident, said that the arms was uncovered inside the
thick forest within Egbema community, saying that no arrest was made.
However, the chairman, Warri North Reconciliation and Peace Building
Committee, Mr. David Tonwei advised the people of Egbema Kingdom
particularly the youths, to surrender arms and ammunition in their
possessions and key into the peace process aimed at restoring permanent
peace in the council area.
Mr. Tonwei noted the need for the
people of Egbema Kingdom to always resolve issues with diplomacy or
through dialogue with relevant government authorities and not by
fighting or killing one another.
He said: “As a people living in
one area, I don’t expect an outsider to come and reconcile us, this is
why we are appealing to those still with arms or keeping arms in the
bush to please surrender them for peace to reign”.
