Jennifer Lawrence was back to promote new film Joy on
Thursday night and cutting a more understated figure, far removed from her
extravagant red carpet dresses.
Still baring plenty of cleavage, the elegant actress, 25,
wore a blazer dress with a super-plunging neckline to the photocall of the
latest big screen offering.
A mullet hem draped to her lower calf as she complemented
the ensemble with a pair of studded, pointed heels.
Jennifer slipped a simple black clutch bag under one arm as
she created a more impressive silhouette with another hand on her hip.
Though she was wearing classic black, Jennifer's vivacious
personality shone through as she accompanied director David O. Russell to the
event, alongside actress Gillian Anderson.
In the film, animated actress Jennifer takes on a more
comedic role than Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen and X Men's Mystique as she
plays titular character Joy Mangano.
Following a family across four generations, Joy takes on the
responsibility of becoming founder and matriarch of a powerful business
dynasty.
The film premiered in New York on Monday and has already earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy or Musical.
The movie has also been nominated for a Best Picture -
Musical or Comedy Golden Globe, and luckily Jennifer, unlike many actors, had
planned to sit through it in the screening.
'I think it's important to watch my performances,' Jennifer
recently told Business Insider. 'It's kind of like an athlete watching, because
I can see if I repeat something, or I didn't believe that moment, why?'
'I think it's important to dissect yourself, but that's
really hard to do because once you're watching it, it's done, and it's set in
stone, and it survives forever. So when you watch something and you hate it,
it's hard to sleep that night.
