After
starring in the recent trailer for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, everyone’s
favourite shape-shifting mutant left fans puzzled… after all, she looked
exactly like Jennifer Lawrence (without the usual blue
hue). But Jennifer Lawrence confirms she will be back in the makeup…“I am blue in it, a little bit,” she told Cinema Blend. “I put my foot down as much as I could. [But] they were very, very nice to me.”
Of
course, Mystique is well-known for her blue appearance, which has
featured heavily in most of the ‘X-Men’ films so far. And while putting
on the makeup can’t be a lot of fun for poor Jennifer Lawrence, the fans
just wouldn’t be happy if she appeared in human form for the entire
film.
Thankfully, it seems that’s not the case…
But
will Jennifer Lawrence’s murky character finally step into the light,
becoming more of a hero than a villain? It looks as though she’s not
quite ready to give us the answer… at least, not yet.
“You’ll see,” she said with a laugh when asked if she’s more of a good guy this time around.
But could this be a bittersweet deliverance for Mystique during her final film outing?
Jennifer
Lawrence has previously revealed that she intends to step away from the
‘X-Men’ franchise after this film is released… but while it’s often
reported that they’re leaving the door open for future movies, could
this be the last we see of Mystique?
It’s
no secret that her on-again-off-again love interest, Magneto, will be
one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen… and with Mystique seeming to lead the team
against the ancient mutant menace, perhaps we’ll see an act of
sacrifice to save the iconic metal-manipulating mutant.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
